10. 3D Dot Game Heroes
If you have ever played the old Zelda series from way back when, then you will feel right at home with 3D Dot Game Heroes, it’s an adventure where you explore the land, get weapons and save the world!
The game looks absolutely phenomenal, rocking a retro cube look and with modern lighting the game is one hell of a sight to see.
Your character is customisable and the design is only limited to your imagaination! This game is deservingly placed on this list and is absolutely a must have for PS3 owners!
9. Yakuza 4
The Yakuza series is famous for it’s realistic representation of the Japanese culture, engaging storyline and zany battle and power up system.
Although this is not a particularly popular game in the UK, Yakuza 4 exceeds expectations and has earned it’s spot as one of the best games on PS3.
8. Motorstorm: Apocalypse
The Motorstorm series was born on the PS3, carefully nurtured and advanced to this fourth iteration.
The driving is spot on and the tracks are all different because it explodes everywhere. You heard me right.
The whole environment crashes and explodes and falls dynamically while you drive. It’s fast, hectic tonnes of fun!
7. Demon’s Souls
Demon’s Souls is a relatively unknown game made by From Software.
Developed exclusively for the PS3 it introduces players to a brutal, atmospheric world of knights, ghouls, Gigantic boss fights and a fear instilling multiplayer mode.
This RPG is one of the hardest games ever made and you will die. A lot.
It’s through the fear of death that you learn to play the game properly and master your surroundings. The game can now be had for extremely cheap and is well worth a space on your shelf.
6. Killzone 3
The Killzone series had made it’s second entry onto the PS3 earlier this year.
Sporting shiny new graphics that have been improved from Killzone 2 (which already looked stunning) and adds in new, snowy environments and weapons to spice up this high octane First Person Shooter.
The multiplayer can last you a lifetime with an enormous amount of modes and maps to keep you busy! It also boasts a massive single player campaign that picks up straight after Killzone 2! Well worth a punt for hours of fun!
5. Heavy Rain
This is a new type of game, like an interactive movie where your every choice affects the outcome.
It has an amazing amount of characters with depth and detail.
It tests your wit, concentration and deduction abilities in this murder mystery that contains an insane amount of twists, turns and action sequences.
The characters feel more human than any other game that I have played. This action game is one of the best and most unique games for the PS3!
4. Metal Gear Solid 4
The name “Metal Gear Solid” perks up many Playstation Fans’ ears.
This legendary series has an entry onto the PS3 and continues on the story of Solid Snake, the legendary hero working for the government to thwart the evil forces working within the world.
The spy gameplay is revolutionary, and requires you to use tactics and skill to get past guards without being detected.
Containing some of the best graphics and story available on PS3. Metal Gear Solid 4 is not one to miss.
3. Gran Turismo 5
You knew this would be on here, Gran Turismo is a behemoth for racing games and especially the racing simulation genre.
The game took a while to develop and get released, but once it finally hit the shelves gamers were not disappointed.
With an amazing amount of Cars, tracks and online functionality, Gran Turismo 5 is probably the best racing game made so far, the visuals are stunning and initially it’s hard to tell whether the graphics are real or not.
Needless to say, Gran Turismo 5 is one mammoth of a game and has rightfully earned it’s spot here in the Top 10.
2. God Of War 3
The God of War series is famous on the PS2, for being excessively violent, gory and having fantastic visuals.
God of War 3 came out for the PS3 last year and of course, contains all of these elements and exceeds them in every single way. The action is high octane, with Kratos hacking and slashing his foes into oblivion.
There are an innumerable amount of foes to hack up and rip to shreds. This game is massively gory, for example you rip a guy’s head off and use him as a tool to guide you to the next area.
In addition to this the infamous Sex Minigame is also in God Of war 3, and came under fire by many outside the gaming industry.
Graphics are absolutely astounding, you can see skin textures perfectly, the gore looks absolutely amazing, this game really covers all bases when it comes to it. And that’s why it’s number 2 on this list.
1. Uncharted 2 : Among Thieves.
Uncharted 2 is fantastic, it’s a third person shooter with platforming elements brought to you by the guys that made the old Crash Bandicoot games on the PS1.
The gameplay itself is nothing new but the way that Naughty Dog has entwined all these features (The shooting, climbing, and little exchanges between characters) come together beautifully into a fantastic game. The characters are full of personality and talk to each other contextually throughout the game.
Graphics are comparable to nothing else available even on the market today. Uncharted 2’s graphics, beautiful vistas, cities and environments are bested by nothing, the multiplayer is also solid and helps further the game’s replayability.
Uncharted 2 has earned it’s top spot here, as well as winning GOTY awards, it sits at the top of this list as a very worthy winner of the best game out on the PS3.
